A Mused

"Start off everyday with a simple smile and get it over with."W.C. Fields

"I cook with wine... Sometimes I even add it to the food..."

"It isn't what I do, but how I do it.
It isn't what I say, but how I say it, and how I look when I do it and say it."
Mae West

"I don't do drugs... I am drugs..." Salvador Dali

Although he didn't smoke, Dali carried a jewel-studded cigarette case in which, instead of tobacco, he'd carefully placed several mustaches, Adolphe Menjou style. He would offer them politely to his friends: "Mustache? Mustache? Mustache?"

Dali was in Paris with Luis Buñuel in 1929 to present their film Un Chien Andalou when he first met Elena Dimitrovna Diakonova (he would later rename her Gala). She was married to the poet, Paul Eluard at the time but when the painter met Gala, he fell in love with her. In 'The Secret Life of Salvador Dali', he wrote: “She was destined to be my Gradiva, the one who moves forward, my victory, my wife”

Dali invited the couple to visit him in Cadaqués during the summer, an invitation that also extended to Bruñel, Magritte and his wife. During their visit, Dali and Elena were strolling together in Cabo de Creus when Dali fell to his knees laughing and declaring his love for her. Holding his hand Gala said "My boy, let us never to be separated..." She never went back...

Ten years his senior, Gala died, aged 91 on June 10, 1982. When the news was given to Dali, he said "...She is not dead, she will never die..."

I will give you pearls of rain from countries where it never rains.
I will dig up the earth even in death to cover your body with gold and with light.
I will make a kingdom where love shall be king
Where love shall be law... where you shall be queen.
Don’t leave me! Don’t leave me! Don’t leave me!
Don’t leave me!
JacquesBrel - Ne me quitte pas! - 1958

I... I will be king
And you... you will be queen
Though nothing will drive them away
We can be Heroes, just for one day

I'm really not good with the pickups. I'm a klutz and don't have a line of gab. I'm only good if they know who I am. So I'll just sit and wait for somebody to say, "Aren't you ... ?" and then go from there.
